The Hawaiian Serenaders live on air

Radio InterviewMele Fong and Rich Tom were guests on AM 900 KNUI morning radio show called  “Maui Breakfast Club” on Friday, 21 December 2012. Host Tom Blackburn-Rodriquez (on left) heard The Hawaiian Serenaders perform at the J. Walter Cameron Center on December 7, and was so impressed that he invited the Serenaders onto the show co-hosted by Kellie Pali-Cruz (on right). Songs included: Kupa Landing (Hawaiian), Beyond the Reef (hapa haole), Lahainaluna (Maui song), Girl From Ipanema (jazz), Flying (mellow pop song), and ended with Mele Kalikimaka (Christmas).

Radio InterviewAfter the show, Ray the radio technician gave Mele a copy of the program on CD (unfortunately the file size was too large to upload to this website).

At a Maui Non-Profit Notes radio show on 20 February 2013 at KAOI AM 1110, Travis, Executive Director of the Bailey House Museum, interviews Mele Fong aka Ukulele Mele about ukulele lessons and workshops offered at the museum. Mele sings and plays “The More We Get Together” in the Waltz Strum and “To You Sweetheart Aloha” with I Wanna Rest Strum and Latin Strum to show how applying different strumming styles gives songs a different feel.

Mele talked on radio with Joe Hawkins about the 1st Annual Ukulele Explosion, a fun, free, family event on Saturday, 24 March 2012 at Kalama Intermediate School (thanks to Benny Uyetake, the school’s ukulele teacher.

Mele was mentioned giving ukulele workshops and entertainment on this radio PSA about Sam’s Upcountry Jam and BBQ on Saturday, 17 May 2014 at Kalama Intermediate School (thanks to Benny Uyetake, the school’s ukulele teacher).
